American Airlines
Pet Carrier Guidelines The maximum size for cabin pet carriers is 19" long x 13" wide x 9" high. Soft-sided pet carriers such as Sherpa bags may exceed these dimensions slightly because they are collapsible. Animals must be able to stand up, turn around and lie down in a natural position in the kennel. Soft-sided pet carriers are accepted as long as they are constructed of water-repellent, padded nylon with mesh ventilation on two or more sides. (excerpt from AA 10/2009)

Delta Airlines
Your pet must be small enough to fit comfortably in a kennel under the seat directly in front of you. Maximum carry-on kennel dimensions are determined by your flight.

United Airlines
Kennel type- Maximum size for carry-on:
Soft-sided- 17" long x 10" wide x 10" high
Hard-sided- 17" long x 12' wide x 8" high

AirTran Airlines
The pet kennel is limited to maximum dimensions of 8.5" high x 17" long x 12" wide.
The carrier must be leak proof and ventilated on at least two sides.
There is no weight restriction on pets.
The pet must remain in the carrier and under the seat for the duration of the flight.

Continental Airlines
Pets must be carried in an approved in-cabin kennel. The kennel must fit completely under the seat forward of the customer and remain there at all times aboard the aircraft. Maximum hard case kennel dimensions are: 17" long x 12.5" wide x 8" high (excerpt from CA 10/2009)

NWA
The maximum kennel size permitted is 17" long x 12" wide x 8" high. The combined weight of your pet(s) and kennel may not exceed 20lbs. Carry-on kennels must be leak proof and be ventilated on two (2) or more sides. The hard-sided Cabin Kennel and soft-sided Sherpa pet containers meet these requirements. (excerpt from NWA 10/2009)

Southwest Airlines
Soft-sided and hard-sided carriers specifically designed as pet carriers are acceptable. The carriers must be leak-proof and well ventilated. The pet carrier must be small enough to fit under the seat 19" long x 14" wide x 8.25" high. (excerpt from SWA 10/2009)
