Using the highest quality leather and innovative designs, Dean & Tyler handmade leashes are the among the most versatile, durable, and attractive leashes on the market today.
Dean & Tyler leather leashes undergo a combination tanning process from century-old tanneries in the Netherlands and UK. First they are tanned with a chrome salt solution to make the leather flexible and more resistant to heat and scratching. Then the leather is vegetable-tanned to make it firmer and more water-resistant.
Many leashes come with a choice of clasps: Herm Sprenger Quick Release stainless Steel Clasps, Solid Brass Clasps or Stainless Steel. All hardware is made of solid brass or stainless steel, not plated. Most of the leashes have clasps at both ends, allowing handlers to easily tether the leash for training or waiting purposes. Some have two stationary rings and one floating ring. This construction allows you to fasten the leash over your shoulder or around your waist, therefore freeing your hands when walking and jogging, or sitting sipping your morning coffee and talking on the phone.
Over the years, Dean & Tyler leather leashes will become softer, not weaker and will develop a distressed vintage look. Wax is brushed on the edges of D&T leashes to prevent fraying, and give the edge a smooth finish. Similarly, all stitching is made of waxed or neoprene thread. With normal usage (no extreme chewing), you may expect your D & T leather to last for at least a decade.
