The Border Collie is one of the most intelligent dog breeds, and is the world’s best herder. Border Collies are highly active, and require a lot of exercise and interaction with people or other animals. Hailing from the “border land,” the highlands between England and Scotland, Border Collies were originally popularized by a doting Queen Victoria, who adopted one on a visit there. The breed requires work and activity, but Border Collie lovers have been known to buy them in pairs – the dogs keep each other entertained, and they bond like siblings.
Border Collie Dog Collars
Due to the Border Collie’s long coat, it doesn’t make sense to buy him elaborate decorative collars – they will just disappear under the fur. The Border Collie is active, but not a rough player, so many materials will suit him. Synthetic, leather, or fabric collars are just fine, and natural colors work well especially with the bi-color (black and white only) coat. Another fun option for longer haired dogs like collies is a dog bandana. While not for everyday wear, bandanas are a great casual way to dress up a working dog. See the Working Dog Collars, Rolled Collars, and Fun Prints Collars for Border Collie collar ideas.
